SPRING AHEAD? NO!!!
Thoughts from a Daylight Savings Time Denier
Standard Time Giveth. Daylight Savings Time Taketh Away.
Set my clock back to THIS time!
Enough already! Nobody is "springing" anywhere after losing an entire hour of their day and especially their sleep. Wake up already to that reality. Springing ahead is an egregious imaginary time change that is no longer even relevant.

Your body clock has finally and beautifully reset itself after the "fall back" to the standard time change and your eyes automatically pop open at 6 AM or at whatever time you typically have to (or want to) arise and shine.
Standard time is the right time.
NOW, on this coming Sunday, March 11th, at the ungodly hour of 2 AM, your clocks will immediately spring forward to 3 AM. Well. Not all of them will automatically do it. You'll probably have to manually reset your oven, your microwave, your coffee maker and also any of your beloved analog clocks and watches.
One thing is certain and this is the worst part about it. YOU will not automatically reset. YOU will be forced to set your alarm clock to force yourself to wake up one entire hour earlier than you have become accustomed to. This is a huge stress on your body. It makes even the most earliest of birds go ARRRGHHHHH!
I'm sitting here at 1:35 PM typing this out, wondering where the day has gone and contemplating about how at this exact same "time" NEXT week it will have magically become 2:35 PM.
I have never liked this and I still don't like this and maybe, since I am now old, I like it even less than I ever did.
This Daylight Savings Time shenanigan is not merely "losing" an hour like in "Oh, where the heck did I put that hour?" This is outright THEFT. What if I don't live long enough to get it back in the fall? Oh. Wait. Some people want to make this theft PERMANENT. Like Marco Rubio, for example, but just like all of us he is entitled to his opinion.
"Oh! But now it stays lighter later at night!"
So what? I go to bed at night. If I stay up I turn on the lights.
"Oh no! Now it's darker in the mornings!"
But we will soon have longer days ANYWAY filled with light because, you know, the summer. And once again I encourage all who are in the dark to turn on the freaking lights!
And take a look at this! Now…somehow sunrises and sunsets and Standard Time vs. Daylight Savings Time will become racist or something.

I just had a discussion with my husband about declaring our 3 acres Eastern Standard Time forever. We will NOT comply. We will keep our clocks the same. I realize this may become problematic for us but we can overcome.
Isn't there a way I can set my phone and all of my electronics to Central Daylight Savings Time which would equal Eastern Standard Time? What about all of our television shows though? How would that work out? And then making appointments might prove to become confusing. On the other hand, folks who live on the borderline of time zones have to deal with this issue all of the time. Why can't we?
I tried to Duck Duck Go some articles that talked about living on the borderline but all that came up was a bunch of Reddit commentaries so I just gave up.
I like living on the East Coast because I get all the news way before the West Coast. I remember when I was living in Las Vegas (Pacific Time) on 9/11. My friend in New York called me at 6 AM screaming "Turn on the news! We're being attacked!" I, for one, will NEVER FORGET. But she was 3 hours later than I was and, if she hadn't called me, I wouldn't have known until I got up at 8 AM Vegas time and this had all been going on for 2 hours already.
Same thing with Twitter. I get all of the East Coast Tweets long before the West Coast gets up to read the East Coast Tweets.
I did find this article which I found interesting because Florida (East Coast) always stays lighter later than New York (East Coast) because we are further West. That's just the way it is!

Okay. So let's talk about the dogs. The dogs don't know about clocks AT ALL. The dogs just know when it's feeding time. When the clocks go back and us lucky humans get to sleep an extra hour the dogs are like "What the heck? Get your lazy butt out of bed already! We're hungry!" And "Hey! Yo! Mommy! It's 4:30. It isn't 3:30. FEED US!" And then, over time, they gradually get used to it.
I love that extra hour. You know. That hour which was STOLEN from me.
But now that Daylight Savings Time is going to make it an hour LATER for us it will still be the same time for the dogs. It will be 7:30 AM for US but it will still be 6:30 AM for THEM. When the 4:30 PM feeding time for THEM rolls around it will be 5:30 PM for US. So, they don't care. I CARE. Now I feed them at 5:30 when I really want to feed them at 4:30. I just lost an hour out of my day.
OMG. I cannot stand this convoluted time manipulation going on twice a year anymore. I truly can't. It is also a danger to our health.

Time is precious and irrecoverable. This stealing of time deserves the death penalty. End it now.
