REMNANTS OF STUPIDITY We are but sailors on an empty sea The shores are endlessly away The sky forever an eternity This ship is just a raft bound for today Floating in a whirlpool of uncertainty We are but dreamers living in reality The fortunes of our hearts are on a cloud Our heroes fall short of their humanity We are but one among an overwhelming crowd Becoming a forgotten identity We are but lovers in a world of animosity Seeking an elusive antidote to hate But love has lost its way with its integrity The sun is sinking and the day is growing late And we are growing closer to our destiny We are fools believing in maturity We have worshiped youth so long we stay a child Our leaders drag us under shrouds of their cupidity Until the spirit in us all has been defiled And we are left with Remnants of Stupidity By Janet Lynn Cucharo Circa 1977
